Santa Monica Family Photography is one of my favorite photo sessions in 2020. For the new year, I decided to add another service to my family photography. Family Photojournalism is an area of photography I’d like to do more of because I want to document real life and real families. I love lifestyle family photography and the sweet posed smiley photos, but there’s something truly special about documenting life during real moments, unposed and natural.
For this session with The Peter’s Family, I followed the code of ethics of photo journalism. That meant, I could not change anything in the setting or do any directing. My goal was to create beautiful compositions as they unfolded naturally and to create sweet works of art for the family.
I also offer family lifestyle photography, which includes traditional and natural, candid-like moments. However, the big difference between lifestyle and photojournalism is that during lifestyle sessions, I do lightly direct and can alter the setting, if possible.
