Boudoir sessions offer a unique opportunity to indulge, embrace empowerment, and discover yourself from a fresh perspective! They blend excitement with a touch of nervous anticipation. The experience embodies self-love and celebrates body positivity, catering to everybody and every woman. I’m here to guide you through it all and help you with the boudoir photography preparation. Below is a boudoir prep guide with helpful tips for how to prepare for a boudoir photoshoot.

1. Plan your wardrobe. Select outfits that make you feel confident and sexy. Consider a variety of lingerie options, from elegant to playful, and don’t forget any accessories you’d like to incorporate, such as jewelry or heels. Before the boudoir photo session, give your outfits and lingerie a final try to ensure a perfect fit, and remember to remove all tags, including the inside labels. I recommend bringing 4-6 outfits.

2. Prepare Your Hair. For ladies who dye or cut their hair, schedule hair appointments before the shoot. Pick a style that enhances your natural features and complements your chosen wardrobe. Avoid any drastic changes right before the boudoir photo shoot to ensure you feel like yourself.

3. Stay Hydrated and Get Plenty of Rest. Leading up to the photoshoot, make sure to drink plenty of water and get enough sleep. This will help ensure you look and feel your best on the day of the session.

4. Practice Posing. Spend some time practicing posing in front of a mirror to find your most flattering angles and expressions. This will help you feel more confident and comfortable during the boudoir photoshoot.

5. Take care of any grooming tasks such as waxing, shaving, or manicures/pedicures a day or two before the shoot. This will give your skin time to recover and ensure you look polished in your boudoir photos. Make sure to moisturize and exfoliate.

6. Relax and Enjoy Yourself. On the day of the shoot, try to relax and enjoy the experience. We will guide you through poses and direction, and remember that boudoir photography is all about celebrating your beauty and confidence.

7. Have Fun with It. Most importantly, have fun with the process! Boudoir photography is a chance to embrace your sensuality and feel empowered, so let go of any self-consciousness and enjoy the opportunity to capture stunning images of yourself.

8. Start drinking water every day. Get into the habit of staying hydrated now because your skin will thank you.

9. Make sure to start practicing affirmations. Loving yourself makes it easier to enjoy your experience! It might feel strange at first but try standing in front of a mirror daily and speaking kindly to yourself.

On the Day of Your Boudoir Session:

10. Give yourself ample travel time to ensure you arrive without feeling rushed.

11. Arrive with your hair clean and dry.

12. Wear comfortable, loose clothing to avoid any marks on your skin. Remove any hair ties or tight watches.

13. Have a light meal or snack beforehand to avoid feeling hungry or irritable. Feel free to bring some snacks with you.

14. Have a blast! Remember, feeling nervous is normal, but the energy you bring will shape the session. So, bring your positive affirmations, courage, and confidence!

15. Make sure you bring everything you need for your boudoir photography session (outfits, accessories, etc.).
